RAIN OR SHINE- YOUR HEART WILL ALWAYS BE MINE

It’s crazy, right?! 

To pack up all of your belongings and move every few years to a place you didn’t particularly choose;  putting your career on hold or waiting months and months for an interview in a saturated market.  You say goodbye more times than you can count to new friends and spend months and months away from your loved one with minimal contact.

You miss birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and milestones–almost like it’s second nature.  Then when they return it’s like a day never passed.

This is the military life–and this is a deployment.

I imagined that in this day in age, a deployment would be easy—with Wi-Fi capabilities and the option to talk and see each other daily;  but on some deployments the spouse isn’t so lucky.  It almost seems like all of the technological advances don’t exist and we’re back in the letter writing days.

This couple started their deployment journey over 14 months ago.  There were weeks at a time where he was away for training, assisting in hurricane relief, and his normal work days turned in to longer hours.  And then when they reached their “final chapter,”  it was 6 months of limited contact, lonely dinners, and anticipation for the arrival home. 

When I capture Homecomings, I always imagine them playing out like a romantic movie—and this one didn’t disappoint.  

These two are so in love— that no hot, humid, or rainy weather could temper the passion of their homecoming kiss.

This journey isn’t easy, and I’m sure it won’t be the toughest journey that they will have, but distance means so little when someone means so much.
